FARNAIR - the first airline delivering air cargo to Germany’s BER Airport

With the Cargo Center at the Airport Berlin Brandenburg (BER) starting operations on 01 August 2013, FARNAIR became the first airline to service the newly opened terminal.

The FARNAIR ATR72F aircraft, bearing the registration HB-AFG had left Cologne/Bonn airport in the early morning of the 01 August and arrived at 05.05 hrs local time at Berlin Schoenefeld, clearing the goods at the new Cargo Center. As the opening of the future Single Airport BER had to be postponed several times due to various reasons, the inauguration of the Cargo Center was described by Hartmut Mehdorn, CEO of Berlin Brandenburg Airport, as a fundamental step towards bringing the BER Airport into service.

“The expected annual 100.000 tons of cargo at the capital’s BER airport can now be handled with this modern infrastructure at the Cargo Center. We were proud to be the first airline using the new facility and are looking forward to receiving a constantly high service level” says Guy Girard, CEO of FARNAIR Switzerland.
