Fokker Services kicks-off Asia Pacific growth plans.
New facility in Singapore for the premier independent services provider for regional aircraft in Asia.
Singapore, December 1st 2010, Today Fokker Services had the groundbreaking ceremony for its new Asia-Pacific full services facility. Asia Pacific is a key growth area, in particular for integrated support of regional aircraft platforms.
In order to take advantage of future growth opportunities and demonstrate its long term commitment to Asia, Fokker Services will move to a new location at the newly developed Seletar Aerospace Park with state-of-the-art facilities at the beginning of 2012. This new 80m free span hangar will be built by local Singapore Company, Sharikat National, and leased to Fokker Services Asia (FSA). The facility will have the space to accommodate 3 regional aircraft or two large narrow bodies.
Fokker Services has already been established since 1997 at Seletar Airport in Singapore via its fully owned subsidiary Fokker Services Asia (FSA). Currently, FSA has a two-bay, EASA-certified heavy maintenance facility capable of handling both Fokker aircraft types as well as ATR 42/72 series aircraft. Over the last 13 years, it has built a reputation as a high-quality, flexible and reliable heavy maintenance organization serving the Fokker and ATR customer base in the region. With the move to the new facility, heavy maintenance capability for other regional aircraft types will be added. FSA anticipates doubling the volume of work through the hangar over the next 5 years.
“JTC is delighted that Fokker Services Asia has decided to expand their operations at Seletar Aerospace Park (SAP). Fokker is a key aerospace company, and JTC is happy that we managed to anchor their new facility at SAP. Fokker will join the suite of companies across the aerospace value chain, and strengthen the industry synergy at SAP,” said Ms Tang Wai Yee, JTC’s Director of Aerospace, Marine and CleanTech cluster.
“This is a first major step in expanding our capabilities into Asia,” says Raj Ramanujam, Managing Director FSA. “The next phase will be to expand our logistics support capability from Singapore, focusing on component support as well as more extensive local parts and rotable stocking.” This includes the setting up of a component maintenance facility in the near future, also in Singapore.
“We are very pleased to partner with Fokker Services and JTC on this project. This is our first aerospace-related venture and we are excited about getting into this area. This is a build and lease project in Seletar Aerospace Park (SAP) and we see it as an innovative approach in developing the SAP,” says Joseph Phang, Managing Director Sharikat National.
FSA has carried out more than 350 base maintenance checks from more than 45 customers at its Singapore base since 1997 and looks forward to enhancing its services with the new state-of-the-art facility from 2012 onwards, ensuring continued, competitive operation for its customers’ fleets.
