Dublin, 23 February 2011
Dublin based aircraft lessor, AWAS, announced today that it has delivered a new Boeing 737-800 to Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA. Norwegian is the second largest airline in Scandinavia, operating 54 aircraft to 93 destinations across Europe and into North Africa and the Middle East.
“This new 737-800 aircraft with the advanced Boeing Sky Interior will help Norwegian to offer our customers superior comfort while delivering all the benefits of its modern, efficient and environmentally-friendly operation. We have worked with AWAS since 2006, and value their assistance and flexibility in helping us transition to these state-of-the-art aircraft,” said Bjørn Kjos CEO of Norwegian.
“We are very pleased to support our valued, long-term customer Norwegian with the delivery of this advanced aircraft. AWAS was the first lessor to offer the Sky Interior, and to-date all of the customers with whom we have forward placed 737-800s have selected this feature,” said Ray Sisson, President & CEO of AWAS. “Norwegian will benefit from the advanced operational performance and efficiencies of this new generation aircraft and Norwegian’s passengers will realize the airline’s dedication to their comfort and service.”
“We also would like to mention that this aircraft is the first 737-800 to deliver from our current, new order stream from Boeing and would like to thank their entire team for their ongoing support of AWAS and our global customers.”
“We congratulate AWAS on the delivery of its Next-Generation 737-800 and its leadership in the leasing market,” said Marlin Dailey, vice president of Sales & Marketing, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "Norwegian Air Shuttle’s fleet of 737s has proven to be the most economical, fuel-efficient and versatile airplane for its route requirements. This newest 737-800 leased from AWAS will build on Norwegian Air Shuttle’s success. "
