Gulf Air Insources 18-Month Check of its Airbus A330

Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, recently announced the completion of its first insourced Airbus A330 18-Month Check at the airline’s base maintenance facility. In line with the airline’s ongoing efforts to streamline its operations for greater efficiency and cost reduction, Gulf Air’s Technical Division successfully insourced its A330 fleets’ 18-Month Checks in a move that underscores the airline’s engineering expertise and technical capabilities.

Gulf Air’s Acting Chief Executive Officer Mr. Maher Salman Al Musallam spoke at a ceremony celebrating this achievement: “The successful completion of this milestone, ahead of schedule, demonstrates our strong in-house technical expertise – for which I congratulate Gulf Air’s entire Technical Division. I look forward to marking additional successes over the coming months as we establish a robust aircraft maintenance system that delivers important cost savings for our national carrier while preserving the quality of aircraft servicing.”

Gulf Air’s Acting Chief Technical Officer Mr. Jamal Hashim said: “Today’s achievement is a clear demonstration of Gulf Air’s in-house engineering capabilities and strengths that have delivered several major milestones in the past such as the insourcing of Fleet Technical Management, Component Management and ‘A’ Checks. I would like to congratulate Gulf Air’s Maintenance and Engineering departments for completing this major check ahead of schedule and I look forward to our next important milestone in our challenging strategy, which is the C Check scheduled for January next year.”

The national carrier currently performs A320 20-Month Checks and the most recent A330 18-Month Check in addition to A Checks, mini-checks, Out-of-Phase and Line Maintenance, for its all-Airbus fleet. Gulf Air will also be carrying out C Checks in January 2015.
