Iberia’s sixth Airbus A330, christened “Miami”, is flying to the Florida city for which it is named, where it will arrive at about 4 p.m. this afternoon.
This is Iberia’s third A330 to show the Spanish airline’s new corporate logo and livery, and comes equipped from the factory with new Business and Economy cabins.
Business passengers can luxuriate in new seats which unfold into flat beds nearly 2 metres long, and are set in individual pods with more room and more privacy, all with direct access to the aisle.
Economy class seats are also larger and more ergonomic, with more leg room for passengers.
Both Business and Economy seating sections feature new, individual entertainment systems, operated by touch screens of 15.4” and 9” respectively, on which passengers can choose amongst a large number of late-release films, popular television series, documentaries, an exhaustive selection of music and audio options, and interactive video games.
The new aircraft will soon be authorised to enable WiFi connection, allowing all to go on line with their own devices, and also to send and receive text messages and data on their phones, via GSM connectivity.
The newly designed cabins have won an enthusiastic response from passengers, especially in Economy. Surveys show that quality perception has risen by 17 percentage points, while the number of passengers who would recommend Iberia to others has climbed by 31.2%.
Iberia operates two daily flights from Miami to Madrid, where passengers can connect to other 32 Spanish destinations, 37 cities in Europe, as well as 12 destinations in Africa and the Middle East. Most of flights from Miami are served with the new A330, featuring the new Business and Economy cabins.
Iberia also flies to New York and Chicago, and it will resume flights in April to Boston and Los Angeles. Iberia is part of the Joint Business Agreement of North Atlantic routes with American Airlines, British Airways and Finnair.
