Iberia restructures top management to lead company transformation

Number of managers reporting to CEO cut to nine
General management concept disappears
Network and alliances development unit is strengthened to spearhead growth
New corporate unit encompasses human resources, safety and corporate social responsibility, with a key objective of reaching labour agreements that ensure the company’s future.

Luis Gallego, Iberia’s new CEO, today announced a major reorganisation of the company’s top management structure as part of an overall transformation programme.

The general management units have disappeared and new appointments have gone to individuals with successful experience inside and outside the company. The number of managers reporting directly to Iberia’s CEO has been reduced from 11 to nine, including five people recruited from within the company and four from outside.

Top status is given to the Network and Alliances Development Division, reflecting Iberia’s intention to grow once its cost structure can assure its competitiveness. Human resources, safety, and corporate special responsibility are now grouped together in a single unit, as one of the key aims is to reach labour agreements that can ensure the company’s future.

In announcing the changes, Luis Gallego said “this is the organisation that we need at this time, lean, efficient, with some new people, and others with new tasks, all of whom I am certain will contribute in this phase to implement successfully all aspects of our transformation plan, aimed at restoring competitiveness and profitability to Iberia.”
