Iberia takes delivery of second new Airbus A330-300

Iberia has taken delivery of the second of eight new Airbus A330-300 it is adding to its fleet in the course of this year and the first quarter of 2014.

The twin-engine, 278-seat aircraft, to be used primarily for flights between Spain and the United States, consumes some 15% less fuel than four-engine planes of similar capacity, for a substantial savings. Iberia’s first A330-300, named Tikal after the spectacular Mayan archaeological site in Guatemala, joined the Iberia fleet on 15th of February.

The Costa Rica, registered as EC-LUK, is part of Iberia’s plan to replace its fleet with more modern, better equipped, and more fuel- efficient aircraft.

Wi-Fi and GSM connectivity.

The aircraft comes equipped with Iberia’s new business and economy class cabin interiors. Business passengers can luxuriate in the new seats that unfold into horizontal beds nearly two metres long, along with extra leg room in individual modules. Every seat is on an aisle, for added convenience.

New economy class seats are also larger, more ergonomic, and more comfortable.

All passengers can use new entertainment systems centred on tablet-like individual touch screens, 9 inches in economy class and 15.4 inches in business -the largest in the market- and choose amongst a selection of 50 feature films in several languages, and nearly 80 other options, including popular television series and documentaries, 200 musical options, 15 interactive games, etc.

Wi-Fi will soon be installed to enable all passengers to connect to the Internet from their own devices. GSM connectivity will also allow them to send and receive text messages and data on their cell phones.
