ILFC and American Sign New Sale-Leaseback Agreement for Boeing Aircraft Including 15 B737-800s and One B777-300ER

LOS ANGELES—(BUSINESS WIRE)—International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC), a wholly owned subsidiary of American International Group, Inc. (NYSE: AIG), announced today it has entered into an agreement with American Airlines (American) for the purchase and leaseback of an additional 15 new B737-800 and one new B777-300ER aircraft.

The B737 aircraft are scheduled for delivery between May 2013 and December 2014. The B777 widebody aircraft is forecasted to deliver in the second half of March 2013. ILFC and American had entered into a previous sale-leaseback agreement for 15 Boeing 737-800 next generation aircraft in 2011. The final delivery of those aircraft was completed in 2012 and they are operating today.

“We’re pleased to strengthen our partnership with American by strategically leveraging our strong financial position to support the airline’s efforts to enhance its fleet and increase network flexibility,” said ILFC Chief Executive Officer Henri Courpron. “This new agreement is another important achievement in ILFC’s efforts to complement its order book opportunistically with sale-leaseback transactions.”
