IT solutions from Lufthansa Systems help Germanwings achieve further cost reductions
As a low-cost airline, Germanwings emphasizes maximum cost efficiency in all areas. The airline has therefore opted for a wide range of NetLine products covering flight schedule and slot management, crew planning and operations control. With these innovative solutions, Germanwings will be able to optimize its scheduling and flight operations processes and respond quickly in case of unforeseen irregularities. For a long time, the airline has been benefiting from Lufthansa Systems’ comprehensive aviation and IT expertise when using paperless navigation charts.
Implementing the new IT products will enable Germanwings to further enhance the efficiency of its flight operations. The NetLine products’ new functionalities simplify information management while at the same time ensuring that all relevant data is available for operational decision-making. In the event of disruptions such as flight delays or cancellations, airlines can significantly reduce follow-up costs arising from positioning flights and overnight stays of passengers, for example.
NetLine/Crew supports Germanwings in all phases of crew management – from crew pairing, rostering and deployment to post-flight evaluation, statistics and documentation. This process results in duty rosters for pilots and flight attendants that make optimal use of available personnel resources as regards cost-efficiency while ensuring strict compliance with all statutory and contractual requirements.
“The NetLine solutions from Lufthansa Systems will make our flight operations and crew planning much more efficient,” said Andreas Flaig, Director Flight Operation at Germanwings. “We are continually expanding our route network and have to be able to react quickly to market changes. In our competitive environment, the IT solutions from Lufthansa Systems are an indispensable tool for us.”
“We are pleased that Germanwings has decided to expand our partnership and look forward to continuing our trust-based collaboration. The new agreement confirms the high value that our products offer our customers in terms of enhanced efficiency, reduced costs or increased profits,” said Peter Ahnert, Senior Vice President Lufthansa Group Airline Solutions at Lufthansa Systems.
