Jet2 celebrates four new routes from Leeds Bradford

Excited Jet2.com and Jet2holidays’ passengers jetting off on the company’s first ever flight to Kefalonia from Leeds Bradford Airport were treated to a check in with a difference today thanks to Britain’s Got Talent favourites, Stavros Flatley.

To celebrate the start of the inaugural route to this stunning Greek Island – an exclusive destination for Yorkshire – the father and son team of Demi and Lagi Demetriou surpised people with a special performance of their infamous dance, encouraging the crowd to join in before chatting with fans and posing for selfies. The duo gained overnight fame when they auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent in 2009, with their comical Greek take on Michael Flatley and Riverdance.

Kefolina is one of four new Jet2.com and Jet2holidays routes taking off this year from Leeds Bradford, marking the start of their biggest summer programme yet. Antalya and Malta took off last week and Tunisia also jetted off today.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said: “It’s a landmark occasion to be launching this exclusive route, so it’s only right we did something special and treated our customers and staff to a friendly Stavros surprise. We’re really excited about this summer and are thrilled to be giving the people of Yorkshire more new and exciting places to visit.”

Demi Demetriou commented: “It was certainly one of our more unusual performances and it was great to see the look on people’s faces as we started dancing at check in. Its fantastic to have been part of these inaugural celebrations – Kefalonia is a beautiful island and I’m sure it will be very popular with Jet2.com and Jet2holidays’ customers. Thanks to everyone who joined in the fun – we had a brilliant time.”

Weekly flights to Kefalonia operate every Wednesday. Jet2.com flights are available from £91 per person, including taxes, with Jet2holidays ATOL protected package breaks available from £309pp, secured for only a £60 deposit.
