Jetstar Pacific launches international services to Singapore

Jetstar Pacific has announced it will commence commercially scheduled international services between Ho Chi Minh City and Singapore.

The carrier has recently announced plans to grow its fleet from seven A320 family aircraft towards 10 aircraft over the next six months allowing for both the launch of international services and an expansion of its domestic network.

Jetstar Pacific currently operates a domestic network to nine Vietnamese destinations with a schedule of up to 300 flights per week. Also announced today was the carrier’s plan to add a new domestic route from Ho Chi Minh City to Thanh Hoa in the country’s north.

Jetstar Group Executive Manager of Planning and Airline Partnerships Alistair Hartley said Vietnam was one of the fastest growing domestic aviation markets in the world with 19 per cent domestic traffic growth in 2013 according to the Vietnamese Civil Aviation Authority.

“Jetstar Pacific’s new services will allow it to capitalise on the evolving opportunities in the Vietnamese markets,” Mr Hartley said.

“With Vietnam’s double digit domestic travel growth and very low levels of low cost carriers operating on international routes to and from Vietnam, growth of the Jetstar Pacific fleet and network will help unlock the full potential of this market.”

International flying from Vietnam is one of the least penetrated by low cost carriers (LCC) in Southeast Asia with LCCs only currently accounting for 13 per cent of international passengers.

The new international route between Ho Chi Minh City to Singapore will operate from 27 October 2014 as a daily service.

Jetstar Asia currently operates three daily flights between Singapore and Ho Chi Minh City. With the launch of the additional service by Jetstar Pacific, customers from Singapore will be able to enjoy four daily services in and out of Ho Chi Minh City.
