The latest release of Lufthansa Systems’ Lido/iRouteManual app is now available at the Apple App Store. Lido/iRouteManual Pro enables commercial airlines to provide its pilots with the navigational charts for all of their flights on Apple’s iPad. Furthermore, the solution has been enhanced by adding new functionalities such as an improved clipboard. In doing so, Lufthansa Systems is creating the basis for using Apple’s iPad as an Electronic Flight Bag (EFB).
This release introduces ad-hoc updates of the airport list and adds the effective date on each chart. The solution can therefore be used operationally with these features. Additional new or updated functions include an easy chart access approval process and enhanced highlighting features. Pilots can access the navigational charts for their airline’s entire route network via the Lido/iRouteManual Pro. Once downloaded, the charts are available even without an Internet connection so that pilots have information on hundreds of airports and thousands of pages of navigational material at their fingertips on the iPad. Depending on an airline’s operational environment and infrastructure, there will be three different ways to update the charts: By clicking just one button, pilots can either update their entire airport library, only update the charts in their clipboard for their next flight or update an individual airport – depending on the time and connecti vity available. In addition to the enhanced clipboard, Lido/iRouteManual Pro includes a dimming feature and optimized chart flipping capabilities. It also enables direct access to charts including relevant chart NOTAMs and provides general text information.
The Lido/iRouteManual Pro app is part of a complete package of iPad applications offered by Lufthansa Systems to facilitate an efficient transition to the paperless cockpit. The new solution turns the iPad into a lightweight, easy-to-use and highly affordable Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) and meets the requirements of aviation authorities for use during all phases of a flight including take-off and approach.
