Lufthansa Systems today announced that All Nippon Airways (ANA) will use Lufthansa Systems’ IT solutions for its codeshare management. The Japanese airline has signed a seven-year contract for SchedConnect with its central schedule database for codeshare management and schedule distribution. With this modern IT solution, ANA will be able to optimize the handling of its codeshare flights while reducing costs and increasing revenues.
“We have been relying on the expertise and IT solutions of Lufthansa Systems for a long time and are convinced by the results of studies”, said Masafumi Shingo, Managing Director Innovation & IT Strategy at All Nippon Airways. "By using SchedConnect to automatically calculate the optimal codeshare connections throughout our network, we can offer our passengers even better codeshare schedules.”
The highly automated SchedConnect solution calculates optimal codeshare connections on a daily basis. To do this, the system processes schedule data from over 150 airlines worldwide. If a schedule change cuts into a minimum connection time or if a partner flight is cancelled, the system automatically assigns the marketing flight number to another suitable connecting flight operated by the partner. Changes are sent through the reservation systems to travel agents and customers as well as to the operations and passenger-related systems of the airlines involved. Lufthansa Systems operates its codeshare management solution following an Application Service Providing (ASP) model. This model includes round-the-clock server operations and the latest infrastructure services.
“We are proud to expand our cooperation with ANA. As Japan’s largest airline and one of the leading airlines in Asia, ANA is a strategically important regional partner to us and the entire Lufthansa Group,” said Olivier Krüger, Senior Vice President Regional Management Asia/Pacific at Lufthansa Systems.
All Nippon Airways, based in Tokyo, is the largest airline in Japan. It serves national and international destinations with a fleet of 233 aircraft.
