Lufthansa Technik: Spirit Airlines signs extended contract for thrust reverser overhaul

Spirit Airlines, ultra-low cost carrier and one of the fastest
growing airlines in the United States, and Lufthansa Technik AG have
signed an exclusive four-year Airframe Related Components (ARC®)
contract for 28 A320 family aircraft (A319, A320 and A321) and
options for additional aircraft. Spirit Airlines fleet currently
consists of 49 aircraft.

Charles Rue, Vice President Supply Chain of Spirit Airlines, points
out: “Lufthansa Technik was able to tailor its services exactly to
Spirit’s needs and requirements in order for us to continue our high
utilization operation while also keeping costs at a minimum, which is
of most importance for a growing carrier such as Spirit Airlines. The
support agreement for the thrust reverser will extend our already
existing business relationship.”

Robert Gaag, Director Sales USA and Canada from Lufthansa Technik,
added: “The growing partnership with Spirit Airlines is of great
value for both parties, and we are extremely proud that Spirit
Airlines has once more showed us the trust and confidence to perform
these critical services for them. With our global MRO network we are
prepared to guarantee Spirit Airlines the high level of quality
support they can expect from us.”

Lufthansa Technik will support Spirit Airlines at its main base of
operations, Fort Lauderdale International Airport, in addition to its
thrust reverser facilities in Sun Valley, California, Hamburg,
Germany, and Shenzhen, China.

Starting in April 2013, a dedicated amount of thrust reverser spares
in combination with a 24/7 customer service desk will ensure maximum
fleet availability at minimum cost to Spirit Airlines. In addition to
the thrust reverser agreement, Lufthansa Technik also supports Spirit
Airlines with an exclusive Total Component Support TCS® contract, as
well as an APU repair and overhaul agreement for the entire fleet.
