NetLine/Ops ++ goes live for Jet Airways

Lufthansa Systems today announced that its NetLine/Ops ++ operations control solution has gone live for Jet Airways, India’s premier international airline. After an implementation period of just nine months, the cutover for India’s leading airline has been successfully completed. With this modern IT solution, Jet Airways will enjoy more efficient flight operations at lower costs.

“The short timeline and an additional interface to the existing crew management system at Jet Airways implied major challenges for our team – but together with our customer, we managed them very well,” said Stefan Auerbach, Executive Vice President Airline Solutions at Lufthansa Systems, describing the project.

The legacy system at Jet Airways had to be replaced within a specific time, with a very narrow time frame for the implementation. A back-up system in so-called “slave mode” was operational in just six months. After a total of nine months, the full system with all of its interfaces and connections was ready for use by the customer. With our NetLine/Ops ++ solution, Jet Airways can now keep the effects of planned and unplanned schedule changes on its passengers at a minimum.

NetLine/Ops +, the latest version of the established operations control solution, makes flight operations more efficient and significantly reduces the costs associated with disruptions like flight delays or cancellations which can arise from positioning flights and expenses such as hotel accommodation for affected passengers, which the airline would need to bear, for example. The unique Management by Exception features were one of the factors that prompted Jet Airways to opt for NetLine/Ops +.

The solution’s new functions facilitate information management, enable a higher degree of automation, and provide better decision-making support. This can improve on-time performance by upto six percent.

It is crucial for airlines to ensure that any planned or unplanned schedule changes have a minimal effect on passengers. NetLine/Ops + offers Jet Airways the best opportunity to achieve consistent punctuality. The airline will have access to the entire range of NetLine/Ops + modules, including OpsLink, MaintenanceControl, Tail xOPT and Solver xOPT.

“We look forward to our continued cooperation with Lufthansa Systems. The perfect project organization and professional implementation contributed to the successful cutover of NetLine/Ops ++ and helped Jet Airways introduce a modern new operations systems without any incidents or delays,” said Satish S. Joshi, Senior GM, Information Technology, Jet Airways.
