Punto Azul launches Douala and Libreville as second and third destinations this year

February 11, 2014, Malabo: Punto Azul Equatorial Guinea’s fastest growing airline has formally announced the launch of direct flights to two Central African regional capitals of Cameroon and Gabon. Though the inaugural flights operated a few weeks ago, the airline announced the two destinations today at a well-attended ceremony held at The Hilton Hotel Malabo. Douala and Libreville flights come hot on the heels of Accra-Ghana, which was launched less than a month ago.
Announcing the new routes Punto Azul Managing Director Paul Richards said, “A few weeks ago we announced Accra as our first regional route of 2014 with a promise expand further in the region. Its my pleasure to formally present to you Doula and Libreville as the newest additions to our network”.
Flights to Douala and Libreville will operate every Tuesday, Friday & Saturday and have been designed to offer connections to and from Accra through Malabo. “Our aim is to create a regional network which will connect key regional hubs in Central and West Africa”, added Mr. Richards.
During the occasion, the airline also announced the launch of its frequent flier program dubbed Club Azul, which aims to reward frequent fliers for their loyalty. “We invite you to enroll for this program in order to earn miles and other travel privileges as you travel with us. I am sure you will find the award miles and tickets as well as the other benefits of membership exciting and worth your travel spend on Punto Azul”.
Given its regional expansion Punto Azul is in advanced stages of ensuring its presence in the Global Distribution Systems and online ticket sales.
Regional travel agents, the Equatorial Guinea Civil Aviation Authority, representatives from Ghana, Spanish and the United States embassy, local corporate entities and the media, attended the gala dinner hosted by the airline.
