Saudia Cargo hits all-time record for second successive month

Saudi Airlines Cargo continues to go from strength to strength, posting record figures for November 2012.
“November was a record month in what has been an incredibly successful year to date,” commented Fahad Hammad, CEO of Saudia Cargo. “In addition to achieving all-time highs in both October and November, 2012 will be an overall record year for Saudia Cargo with a total growth in revenue of 20%. Results for January–November 2012 indicate total boarding figures of 471.000 tons, representing a growth of 19% compared with the previous year”.
This latest announcement, which comes at a time when much of the global air cargo industry is struggling as a result of the economic downturn, marks an extraordinary achievement for the Saudi-based cargo carrier.
“The main contributors to our growth were exports from Europe, East Africa and the UAE as well as cargo from our network into Saudi Arabia and West Africa,” added Fahad Hammad. “We expect this growth to continue for the remainder of the year.”
The cargo airline, which is the largest freighter operator in the Middle East, largely attributes its extraordinary growth to its expanding freighter network. As well as introducing new routes and increasing capacity on selected destinations across the globe, Saudia Cargo has recently grown its share in the Indian Sub-Continent, particularly Bangladesh.
Saudi Airlines Cargo operates scheduled freighter services with 13 freighters and sells the belly-capacity on 145 passenger aircraft for Saudi Arabia’s flag carrier Saudia spanning a rapidly expanding global network of 225 destinations. The cargo airline also provides cost-effective and practical worldwide charter flight solutions from a growing fleet of dedicated charter aircraft.
