ST. GEORGE, Utah, May 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — SkyWest, Inc., (NASDAQ: SKYW) (“SkyWest”) today reported a 0.5 percent decrease in revenue passenger miles (RPMs) for April, while available seat miles (ASMs) decreased 3.3 percent compared to April 2013. SkyWest also reported that passenger boardings for April decreased 1.6 percent to 4,954,134 compared to 5,034,736 for the same period last year. Load factor increased to 82.8 percent compared to 80.5 percent in April 2013. The combined airlines generated 2.6 billion RPMs for the month, while ASMs decreased to 3.1 billion. SkyWest also reported a decrease of 6.5 percent in departures to 114,616 for April compared to 122,557 for the same period last year.
April departures were 6.5 percent below the same period in 2013. As a result of significant weather systems in April 2014, SkyWest canceled approximately 2,000 flights related to weather.
