ST. GEORGE, Utah, June 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — SkyWest, Inc., (NASDAQ: SKYW) (“SkyWest”) today reported a 2.0 percent decrease in revenue passenger miles (RPMs) for May, while available seat miles (ASMs) decreased 4.0 percent compared to May 2013. SkyWest also reported that passenger boardings for May decreased 3.0 percent to 5,151,425 compared to 5,313,315 for the same period last year. Load factor increased to 84.1 percent compared to 82.4 percent in May 2013. The combined airlines generated 2.7 billion RPMs for the month, while ASMs decreased to 3.2 billion. SkyWest also reported a decrease of 7.0 percent in departures to 116,743 for May compared to 125,579 for the same period last year.
Both block hour production and departures were lower on a year-over-year basis due primarily to weather/ATL related cancellations.
