Skyworld Aviation and PRISMA Aviation Services team up on Avro RJ 100 deal

In a transaction arranged by Skyworld Aviation and Prisma Aviation Services, Sky Wings Airlines of Greece have purchased four Avro RJ 100 aircraft from Aegean Airlines. Skyworld Aviation acted on behalf of Skywings Airlines, and Prisma Aviation Services acted on behalf of Aegean Airlines. The sale includes a large package of spare parts and tooling and Aegean will also provide support during the phase-in period in terms of training and maintenance. Delivery of aircraft will begin this week.

The deal marks the move into a new type for Sky Wings and the exiting of the type for Aegean after nearly 12 years of Regional Jet operations.

Sky Wings Airlines was established in 2005 utilising an MD80 aircraft, also sourced by Skyworld Aviation. The airline now operates 6 aircraft, a combination of MD80’s and A320’s, on non-scheduled charter and wet lease operations.
Aegean Airlines started operations in 1999 with the Avro’s and have since grown to now operate a fleet of more than 20 A320 and A321 aircraft on 24 domestic and 35 international routes out of Greece.

PRISMA Aviation Services offers a broad range of commercial and technical skills to airlines and aircraft owners, with a proven track record in aircraft remarketing, evaluation, contract negotiation and business planning. This is the ninth sale/ACMI transaction for BAE 146/Avro RJ aircraft with which PRISMA Aviation Services has been involved over the last two years in Europe, Asia and Africa.

Skyworld Aviation offers specialist consultancy, marketing and asset management services to mainly the regional airline industry. The company was originally formed to manage the aircraft leasing and trading transactions within the Skyways AB group of companies in Sweden, but is now an independent company with an extensive client base in all corners of the world. Skyworld Aviation has completed 420 aircraft related transactions for over 130 clients to a value of over $700 million.
