Spirit Airlines and Dispatcher Membership Ratify Agreement

MIRAMAR, Fla., Aug. 16, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Spirit Airlines (Nasdaq:SAVE) Dispatchers, represented by the Transport Workers Union (TWU), voted to ratify a new contract reached between the airline and the TWU. The new five-year agreement was ratified by TWU Members at Spirit Airlines yesterday and became effective today.

“We are pleased to have reached a mutually beneficial and competitive agreement that recognizes our high quality team of Dispatchers for the great job they do every day for the company and our customers,” said Spirit’s President and CEO Ben Baldanza. “We look forward to further building a relationship of mutual trust and respect with all of our dispatch team members.”

The agreement provides improved pay for Spirit’s Dispatchers while at the same time maintaining efficiency and supporting the company’s continued growth and ability to offer ultra low fares, optional services and low total prices for its customers.

“I am extremely pleased to have reached an agreement that recognizes the critical role our Members play and provides the economics that allow Spirit Airlines to remain the leading Ultra Low Cost Carrier of the Americas,” said TWU Local 540 President Alex Giarrocco.
