SriLankan Airlines optimizes flight planning with Lido/Flight

SriLankan Airlines recently signed a five-year agreement for Lufthansa Systems’ Lido/Flight solution. This enables the Sri Lankan airline and it sister company Mihin Lanka, to benefit from more efficient flight planning processes and lower costs in the future. Lido/Flight calculates optimal flight routes based on various factors and can reduce fuel costs by up to five percent. Lufthansa Systems will operate the system in its data center as an Application Service Providing (ASP) model.

With its modern and user-friendly architecture, Lido/Flight covers all aspects of flight planning. The system provides dispatchers with numerous optimization options regarding flight time, fuel consumption or costs of each flight. Taking into account the latest flight-related data such as weather conditions, total weight and air traffic situation, Lido/Flight calculates the suitable routes for each flight from all available options. Lido/Flight also offers additional modules which facilitate dispatchers’ work in various subtasks. It is in use with major airlines around the world operating in different business models. Lido/Flight can significantly reduce an airline’s fuel consumption. The system is a component of the Integrated Operations Control (IOCC) Platform from Lufthansa Systems.

“Our plans for the future demand a powerful flight planning system which considerably increases the efficiency and operational flexibility of our daily operations. We selected Lido/Flight because of its high degree of automation and strong route optimization capabilities. This enables us to reduce fuel consumption and costs”, explains Mr Dilantha Weeraratne, Manager Operations Control at SriLankan Airlines.

“We are delighted that SriLankan selected Lido/Flight to optimize its flight planning. Winning this carrier as a new customer is a major success for Lufthansa Systems,” said Olivier Krueger, SVP Regional Management Asia/Pacific at Lufthansa Systems.
