THAI Ready to Operate Flights from Bangkok to Sapporo

Bangkok, 24 October 2012 – Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) organized a reception to announce the launch of its new roundtrip route from Bangkok to Sapporo in Japan. The new destination launch event was presided over by Mr. Sorajak Kasemsuvan, THAI President, and attended by guests from the tourist and airline industry as well as members of the press at THAI’s Head Office on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road.

Mr. Kasemsuvan said THAI adjusted its marketing strategy to serve an increase in demand for travel to Japan, by introducing flights from Bangkok to Sapporo, the capital of Hokkaido prefecture. Sapporo is the cultural, economic, and local government center; Sopporo also attracts tourists from all around the world to such places as the annual Snow Festival in February, the historic clock tower, the Hokkaido government office, and the famous Suzukino shopping district.

THAI will begin operating flights on this route on 30 October 2012 with the Airbus A330-300, which already has a pre-booking cabin factor of 80 percent per flight. In addition to operating three flights per week to and from Bangkok-Sapporo, THAI currently operates to five destinations in Japan: Narita, Haneda, Nagoya, Osaka, and Fukuoka. Currently, THAI operates the following flight frequencies to and from Japan:

- Bangkok-Narita-Bangkok at 21 flights per week

- Bangkok-Haneda-Bangkok at 7 flights per week

- Bangkok-Nagoya-Bangkok at 11 flights per week

- Bangkok-Osaka-Bangkok at 17 flights per week

- Bangkok-Fukuoka-Bangkok at 7 flights per week

Flight TG670 departs from Bangkok at 23.45 hours on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays and arrives in Sapporo’s Chitose Airport at 08.00 hours (local time) on the following day. Flight TG671 departs from Sapporo at 10.45 hours on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays and arrives in Bangkok at 16.15 hours (local time) on the same day. Beginning on 30 December 2012, THAI will increase its operation to be four flights per week on this route, with an additional flight from Bangkok on Sundays, and an additional flight from Sopporo on Mondays.

To introduce this newest destination, Sapporo, THAI is offering special promotional airfares – same ticket price to each of THAI’s destinations in Japan, with prices in Economy Class beginning at 29,300 baht, Royal Silk Class beginning at 66,145 baht (airfare, including taxes and surcharges which may change depending on the currency exchange rate on the day of ticket issuance).
