This spring, Carpatair launches direct flights from Iasi to Italy

Timisoara, February 17, 2011: Carpatair, the full-service airline with its hub based in Timisoara, expands its operations in Iasi by launching the direct flight Iasi – Rome (Fiumicino). After Timisoara, Bucharest – Otopeni, Craiova and Bacau, Iasi is the next Romanian city where Carpatair is expanding its operations by adding new external routes.
Newly introduced flights will be operated twice/week, on Thursdays and Sundays, starting April 21, 2011. During the period July-September 2011 a third direct flight will be operated on Tuesdays. The new flights will be operated with Fokker 70 and 100 aircrafts, according to the following schedule:
Iasi – Rome (Fiumicino) 17:05 – 18:35 (on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays)
Rome (Fiumicino) – Iasi 19:25 – 22:45 (on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays)
Paula Ardelean, Carpatair Vice-President Marketing and Sales, states: „The decision of expanding operations in Iasi is part of the expansion strategy initiated in 2009, by enlarging operations from Bucharest-Otopeni, and strongly supported in 2010 by adding 2 new operational bases (Craiova and Bacau). Carpatair operates the largest network Romania – Italy – Romania. The decision to introduce direct flights from Iasi to Rome was justified by the high demand of flights on this route.”
In 2010 the company introduced 6 new flights, expanding by 14 percent the total number of flights operated in 2010, and recorded a turnover of 74 million euro, representing 14% growth compared to 2009. With the new routes introduced in 2010, Carpatair strengthens its leading position as national and regional carrier on the Italy relation, as being the airline with the most frequent flights/ week (152 one-way flights – 76 frequencies) and the most destinations operated in Italy (9).
At the beginning of 2011, Carpatair has made a powerful entrance on the holiday travel market with the City Breaks customized packages on 10 destinations in Italy, Greece and Germany. Carpatair’s new service provides customers with round-trip transportation and three-night accommodation at 3 and 4 star hotels (breakfast included) and, additionally, free assistance in configuring customized packages.
