SINGAPORE – Starting 1 August 2013, recently rebranded Tigerair will make the first of its daily flights to Indonesia’s third largest city – Bandung, a city which has garnered strong appeal for its colonial heritage, and status as a textiles and fashion hub.
Tigerair’s maiden flight to Bandung follows the recent launch of the airline’s daily flights to Yogyakarta on 1 July 2013. Bandung marks the eighth Indonesian destination operated under Tigerair’s network, and reflects the Group’s commitment to further grow its presence in Indonesia while providing even greater choice to travellers.
Bandung’s charm extends to both the scenic and the cultural, making it a much sought-after getaway destination. The city is home to numerous Dutch colonial architecture and significant tourist sites such as the Tangkuban Prahu volcano crater, Kawah Putih volcano lake, and expansive tea plantations. Visitors to the city’s heartland can also indulge an entire palette of traditional Indonesian culinary delights such as the ubiquitous dim sum ceker, nasi liwet or grilled sweet corn. Bandung is also well known for belt of factory outlets at Cihampelas Street, Jalan Setiabudi and Riau Street, which carry a vast array of fashion products at fantastic value. For the avid golfer, the choice of well-maintained 18-hole golf courses at the Dago Endah Golf & Country Club, and the Bandung Giri Gahana Golf & Country Club, amongst others, will provide good reason for making a trip there.
Bandung is known for its cool sub-24°C year-round temperature. This has raised the city’s popularity among Singaporeans as well as residents from other Indonesian cities seeking respite from the intense heat.
“The new Tigerair is all about enabling our customers to create great travel memories, and our network extension to Bandung is definitely a step in the right direction,” said Mr Alex Knigge, Chief Commercial Officer of Tigerair.
Singapore’s largest homegrown budget carrier has been working smart to introduce customer-friendly services across Tigerair’s network. For example, customers can now make changes to their bookings online and pre-order their preferred meal choice from Tigerair’s award-winning food and beverage menu on all of its flights.
To celebrate the launch of the new Singapore-Bandung route, Tigerair will be offering a special SGD10 promotional fare for flights from Singapore to Bandung, excluding taxes and other charges. This promotion is available for booking from today through 5 August 2013, and valid for travel between 1 Oct 2013 and 28 February 2014.
