UTair Group sees sharp increase in passenger traffic in first half of 2012

Figures from the UTair Group have shown that passenger traffic in 2012 is 40.9% up on last year.

Covering from January to June, the UTair Group’s aircrafts has already carried 3,883,009 passengers in 2012, indicating an increase of just over 40% when compared to the corresponding period of 2011.

Passenger turnover over the same time frame grew by 46.1% compared to the previous year, reaching 7, 223, 611 passenger- kilometres. This compares favourably to the industry norm with the latest data from Transport Clearing House showing average growth currently standing at 17.4%.

In the first half of 2012, the UTair Group’s airplanes spent 140,742 hours in the air, representing an uplift of 23.9% on the same period of last year. Furthermore, during the first six months of 2012, the Group’s aircrafts transported12,404 tons of cargo, exceeding 2011 by 56.3%.

Elsewhere, helicopter flying time significantly increased to 74,439 hours, surpassing last year’s January-June figures by 26.9%.
