Virgin America Reports April 2013 Operational Results

SAN FRANCISCO, May 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Virgin America today reports its preliminary operational results for April and April year-to-date. Virgin America’s April traffic (revenue passenger miles) rose 3.7 percent on a 0.3 percent increase in capacity (available seat miles). Virgin America’s April load factor was 83.3 percent, up 2.8 points from the same month in 2012.

Year-to-date, Virgin America’s traffic decreased 4.9 percent compared with 2012, while capacity decreased 3 percent.

April passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) is estimated to have increased by 4 to 6 percent compared with the same month in 2012. Year-to-date PRASM rose 13 percent, compared with the same period in 2012.

Virgin America expects to routinely publish its operational statistics and estimated PRASM increases in future months, consistent with the practice of other airlines.
