Volvo Aero signs important maintenance contract with Finncomm

Finncomm, Finland’s largest domestic airline, has chosen Volvo Aero for maintenance of their PW100 engines. The agreement includes the modern engine types PW127E/M for Finncomm’s growing fleet of ATR aircraft.

The exclusive Time & Material agreement has an option to be extended with at least four years. It will include about ten engine maintenance occasions per year. Several of these are HSI, Hot Section Inspections that will be performed on-site in Helsinki. HSI on-site implies large benefits for the customer; considerably shorter turn around time and no need for a spare engine.

“We have had negotiations during half a year. It´s very satisfying that we now have agreed about the contract terms”, comments Klas Torssander, Director Marketing & Sales PW100 at Volvo Aero.

Finncomm’s fleet consists currently of 13 ATR-42 and ATR-72 turboprop aircraft. The average age of the modern fleet is only about five years. Three more aircraft will be taken into service during 2011.

Finncomm carries yearly about 900.000 passengers to 16 destinations in Finland and further five in Europe. Some flights are marketed by Finnair, whom which Finncomm has co-operated with since 1998.
