Vueling strengthens its growth with the addition of the ninth A320 Sharklets Airbus to its fleet

Barcelona, July 29th, 2013. – Vueling has completed its fleet with the addition of the ninth Airbus A320 equipped with the new advanced wingtips Airbus has named Sharklets. With this arrival, Vueling consolidates its growth bringing the fleet to a total of 70 aircraft. With this fleet in place Vueling plans to operate a record number of 502 takeoffs and landings a day this summer season across a total of 208 routes to 105 cities in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Sharklets are the new Airbus technology that, thanks to the extension and aerodynamic improvement of the wingtips, guarantees a decrease of up to 4% in fuel consumption and a significant reduction in CO2 emissions.

Vueling became, last March, the first airline in southern Europe to incorporate this technology, which substantially improves its already safe and efficient operations, into its fleet. The incorporation of these aircraft responds to the challenge the company faces with the higher standards of quality required to follow the safety audit criteria, IOSA, as developed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
