WestJet launches service to Loreto

CALGARY, Feb. 14, 2015 /CNW/ – WestJet today launched new, seasonal non-stop service between Calgary and Loreto, Mexico. The inaugural flight departs from Calgary International Airport at 9 a.m. mountain time.
“Today’s launch is further evidence of our longstanding commitment to provide safe, friendly and affordable air travel to Mexico,” said Chris Avery, WestJet’s Vice-President, Network Planning, Alliances and Corporate Development. “We flew more than one million seats in and out of Mexico in 2014 and this year, we’ll increase that capacity even further. As trusted brands, WestJet and WestJet Vacations are proud to be the choice of hundreds of thousands of Canadians who travel to Mexico each year.”
Known for its spectacular scenery and vast array of eco-tourism activities, Loreto is WestJet’s eighth destination in Mexico. The airline also serves Cabo San Lucas, Cancun (and the Mayan Rivera), Cozumel, Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo, Manzanillo, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta with a total of more than 120 flights per week from 19 Canadian gateways during the peak winter travel season.
Loreto is one of more than 40 WestJet destinations in Canada, the U.S., Mexico and the Caribbean available on a non-stop basis from Calgary International Airport this winter.
“WestJet’s newest non-stop service from Calgary to Loreto, Mexico, will be a welcome addition for leisure travellers looking to connect from YYC to the Baja California peninsula,” said Stephan Poirier, Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer for the Calgary Airport Authority. “As Canada’s third-busiest airport serving more than 78 non-stop destinations worldwide, YYC travellers are able to enjoy some of the best air service access in the country and we look forward to continuing to grow that extensive route network.”
WestJet Vacations offers a variety of flexible holiday packages in Loreto including a seven-night stay at the Hotel Santa Fe by Villa Group starting from $799 taxes included ($659 + $140 taxes).
