Abelo announced a follow-on lease placement from its orderbook with SATENA for one ATR 72-600 aircraft. The agreement follows the successful delivery of Abelo’s first ATR 42-600 to SATENA in December 2025 and further expands the partnership between the two companies.
Stephen Gorman, CEO of Abelo, said the ATR 72-600 will support SATENA’s efforts to improve regional connectivity across Colombia and highlighted the company’s collaboration with ATR in delivering efficient turboprop aircraft to developing markets.
SATENA President Major General Oscar Zuluaga Castaño said the aircraft addition supports the airline’s sustainable growth strategy and strengthens connectivity to remote Colombian regions where air travel is essential. He added that the fleet expansion will help drive tourism, economic development, and social connectivity.
The ATR 72-600 will strengthen SATENA’s fleet and improve service to underserved communities across Colombia. Abelo said the ATR platform is particularly suited to Colombia’s geography due to its operational efficiency and lower environmental impact.
The deal also reflects Abelo’s continued strategy of placing ATR aircraft with regional operators and reinforces confidence in the long-term prospects for turboprop aviation in Latin America.
