Michael Hamelink has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Aigle Azur on 27 May 2015 by the Executive Board of Aigle Azur. His mission will be to carry out the long-term development strategy of Aigle Azur.
At 47, and holding Dutch nationality, Michael Hamelink brings with him 20 years of experience in international aviation management in Europe, Asia and Africa.
He started his career in 1992 as a management trainee at KLM
Royal Dutch Airlines, then as a Financial Controller at KLM Belgium and Luxemburg in Brussels. He developed his career at KLM and served several positions as a Financial Director in Hong Kong, Johannesburg, The Netherlands and London.
In 2008, he was appointed Regional General Manager Eastern Africa for Air France KLM in Nairobi, before joining Mandala Airlines in Jakarta in 2009, as Chief Financial Officer. After his Finance Director’s role at Lonrho Aviation in Johannesburg from 2011 to 2013, Michael Hamelink was appointed Senior Advisor International Investments at HNA Aviation, based in Haikou, China. He joined Aigle Azur in March 2015 as Chief Financial Officer.
Michael Hamelink earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Chicago Booth, Illinois.
