Altura Airlines has commenced operations as a majority Indigenous-owned charter airline, providing aviation services to the mining, resources, government and regional sectors across Australia.
Headquartered in Perth, the airline was established to deliver passenger and freight charter services to remote and regional communities using a fleet of Dash 8-100 and Dash 8-400 aircraft. Altura said it plans to expand its operational capability with the introduction of Airbus A320 aircraft from 2027, subject to regulatory approvals, enabling higher-capacity services for workforce transport and infrastructure projects.
Founded by Dr Amanda Healy alongside aviation executives Michael Evans and Phil Garcia, the carrier aims to combine aviation expertise with Indigenous leadership to strengthen regional connectivity while creating employment and economic opportunities. The company said its strategy focuses on long-term partnerships with customers operating in remote environments where safety, reliability and operational performance are critical.
Altura Airlines said its long-term growth strategy includes expanding both its fleet and route capabilities while supporting Australia’s mining, energy, infrastructure and government sectors. The airline will continue to focus on delivering dependable aviation solutions across regional Australia while building a nationally recognised Indigenous-owned aviation business.
