FLY91 Orders 40 ATR 72-600s in $1 Billion Fleet Expansion

FLY91 has placed a firm order for 40 ATR 72-600s in a transaction valued at approximately $1 billion, providing the Indian regional carrier with aircraft for a major expansion of its domestic network.

Deliveries are scheduled between 2027 and 2032. The transaction is ATR’s largest firm order in almost a decade and the manufacturer’s largest-ever order from a regional airline.

FLY91 currently operates six aircraft and plans to expand its fleet to 60 within five years. The new ATRs will provide the core capacity for that growth as the airline develops connections between India’s Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

The order also represents a significant boost to ATR’s 2026 commercial activity. It increases the manufacturer’s firm order intake for the year to 54 aircraft, already exceeding its full-year 2025 net order total.

FLY91 launched commercial operations in 2024 with a business model focused specifically on regional flying. The airline is backed by Convergent Finance, with Chairman Harsha Raghavan describing the new aircraft commitment as the platform for its next phase of expansion.

The fleet investment comes as India prepares to expand its regional connectivity program through UDAN 2.0. FLY91 plans to use the ATR 72-600’s economics on shorter sectors to expand direct air links between smaller cities and regional economic centers.
