Jazeera Airways Selects LEAP-1A Engines for Nine Additional A320neos

Jazeera Airways has selected CFM International LEAP-1A engines to power nine additional Airbus A320neo aircraft from its existing orderbook of 26 aircraft.

The Kuwaiti carrier has also expanded its engine services agreement with CFM to cover its current and future fleet of 29 A320neo Family aircraft. The agreement includes the purchase of additional spare engines.

Jazeera currently operates 11 LEAP-1A-powered A320neos and 13 A320ceos equipped with CFM56-5B engines. The airline became the first operator of a LEAP-1A-powered A320neo in the Middle East in May 2018.

The latest engine selection covers nine aircraft within Jazeera’s existing Airbus orderbook rather than an additional aircraft commitment and supports the carrier’s ongoing fleet expansion.

The expanded services agreement will provide engine support as Jazeera increases its A320neo Family fleet, while the additional spare engines will provide capacity to support maintenance and operational requirements.

CFM is also introducing durability improvements for the LEAP fleet, including a high-pressure turbine durability kit intended to increase time on wing and a reverse bleed system designed to reduce maintenance requirements.
