Press release from euroAtlantic airways about Israir Airlines

The Board of Directors of euroAtlantic airways hereby informs that, on the evening of Tuesday, the 26th May, it has solved the legal dispute against “Israir Airlines and Tourism” and the aircraft seized has already been released.

euroAtlantic airways confirms seizing an Airbus, property of Israir Airlines, at Lisbon International Airport, after a decision by the Supreme Court of Justice recognized euroAtlantic’s claim. This dispute which had been going on for the last seven years between the company owned by Tomaz Metello and the Pestana Group and the Israeli airline resulted from a claim by euroAtlantic that Israir owed the Portuguese company a considerable amount.

The Board of Directors of euroAtlantic airways laments the inconvenience caused by the judicial seizure of the aircraft but would like to remind the this extreme act was a last resource measure taken in defense of its legal rights. Nevertheless, euroAtlantic remains available to develop, in the future, a cooperation with Israir Airlines and Tourism to develop tourism opportunities between the two countries.
