Scoot's first Boeing 787-8 delivered and in-service

23rd July 2015, Singapore – Scoot is on track to become the first budget airline in the world to operate an all-Dreamliner fleet when its last 777 is retired from scheduled service in late August 2015.

Singapore’s fun-loving LCC has just taken delivery of its sixth Dreamliner, which is also Scoot’s first 787-8. The smaller version of Boeing’s game-changing aircraft is named “Ba Bao”, Chinese for “eight treasures or eighth baby”. “Ba Bao” operated its first service to Sydney on Thursday morning.

“Scoot’s been receiving 787s at a rapid rate of about one per month since February, and we’ll keep up the pace for the rest of the year. Our transition has been progressing smoothly and we’re very much looking forward to being the world’s first all-787 operator. Operating two variants of the Dreamliner, the 787-8 and 787-9, means that we can deploy the best size of aircraft for each route and season, whilst consistently offering all guests the same great features and products – including on-board Wi-fi, in-seat power on top of everything else people have come to expect from Scoot. And of course, the 787’s great economics mean that Scoot’s airfares will remain unbeatable!” said Scoot CEO, Campbell Wilson.

The arrival of the first 787-8 coincides with Scoot carrying over 200,000 guests in a month for the first time and our 5 millionth guest taking flight in the weeks ahead.

The Scoot fleet
