Silver Airways Adds Alaska Airlines as Ninth Interline Partner
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Oct. 20, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Silver Airways, which offers more routes within Florida and between Florida and the Bahamas than any other airline, and Alaska Airlines introduced their interline ticketing partnership, allowing travelers to easily connect between the carriers’ networks. Alaska Airlines has become Silver Airways’ ninth airline partner.
Under the agreement, travelers are now able to purchase a single ticket for flights to and from Alaska Airlines’ more than 100 cities in Alaska, the Lower 48, Hawaii, Canada and Mexico, and Silver Airways’ destinations throughout Florida and the Bahamas. By booking single-ticket trips and combining flights on multiple carriers, customers also benefit from one-stop check-in and baggage check when they transfer between the airlines.
“Adding Alaska Airlines to our growing portfolio of valued airline partners allows us to bring even more destinations within reach of customers for both airlines and gives travelers the opportunity to easily connect between multiple airline networks,” said Silver Airways CEO Sami Teittinen.
The interline agreement is bringing many new Florida and Bahamas destinations within reach for Alaska Airlines customers, including Fort Lauderdale, Key West, Tampa, Fort Myers, Orlando, Pensacola, Tallahassee, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Bimini, Grand Bahama (Freeport), North Eleuthera, the Abacos (Marsh Harbour and Treasure Cay), and Great Exuma (George Town). At the same time, travelers from Silver’s destinations in Florida are also benefiting from easy interline access to popular Alaska Airlines destinations in Alaska, Hawaii, the mainland U.S., Canada and Mexico, including Las Vegas, Seattle, Honolulu, San Francisco, and Portland, Oregon, among many others.
In just over a year since it launched its own silverairways.com website and stand-alone Sabre reservations system, Silver has continued to expand its diverse and growing portfolio of partnerships to include interline agreements with American Airlines, Bahamasair, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue, US Airways, and Alaska Airlines, as well as international interline ticketing capabilities with overseas airline partners Hahn Air and All Nippon Airways. These new partnerships are in addition to Silver’s longstanding codeshare and frequent flyer partnership with United Airlines.
