AerCap Orders 15 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners

AerCap has placed a direct order for 15 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, expanding its portfolio of the widebody aircraft to approximately 140 units and reinforcing its position as the world’s largest owner of the 787.

Announced at the Farnborough International Airshow, the aircraft are scheduled for delivery through 2033 and will be powered by GE Aerospace GEnx-1B engines. The agreement also includes substitution rights for the larger 787-10, providing AerCap with flexibility to meet evolving airline customer requirements for additional capacity.

AerCap said the latest order reflects continued demand for fuel-efficient widebody aircraft as airlines renew fleets and expand long-haul networks. The 787 family offers up to a 25% reduction in fuel consumption and carbon emissions compared with the aircraft it replaces, while the 787-10 provides approximately 50 additional seats over the 787-9.

AerCap was the first aircraft lessor to take delivery of a Boeing 787 in 2013. Since entering service, the 787 family has carried more than 1.3 billion passengers and enabled the launch of over 540 new nonstop routes worldwide.
