AerCap Selects GEnx Engines for 15 Additional Boeing 787s

GE Aerospace has announced that AerCap will power its latest order for 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliners with GEnx-1B engines, expanding the lessor’s portfolio of GEnx-powered aircraft.

The engine selection follows AerCap’s recent order for 15 Boeing 787-9s and increases its portfolio to approximately 200 GEnx engines owned or on order. AerCap is the world’s largest owner of Boeing 787 aircraft.

The GEnx-1B powers Boeing’s 787 family and has accumulated more than 50 million flight hours since entering service. GE Aerospace said the engine delivers a 99.98% dispatch reliability rate and has benefited from ongoing durability upgrades that have significantly extended time on wing, particularly in demanding operating environments.

GE Aerospace is continuing to expand production capacity for the GEnx through investments in its manufacturing facilities and supply chain in both Europe and the United States as demand for new widebody aircraft remains strong.
