Air Namibia's fleet renewal
Early in 2011 Air Namibia acquired three ERJ 135 aircraft as part of its fleet renewal process and replaced the former Beechcraft model used on its domestic and regional flights. This allowed the airline to subsequently boost its regional network with two new routes from Johannesburg to Walvis Bay and Windhoek to Rundu, as well as increase the frequency of many of its former routes such Walvis Bay to Cape Town and Windhoek to Luanda. In keeping with its expansion program and drive to become one of the premier airlines in Southern Africa, Air Namibia has recently acquired the Airbus A319-100 in a bid to further boost the Air Namibia fleet and as a part of the airlines continued fleet renewal.
The New Generation Airbus A319 – 100 will be introduced during the current month and will serve routes between Windhoek and Accra, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Luanda. The new A319 offers a high degree of comfort and a two class configuration of Business and Economy class across 112 seats, 96 in Economy and 16 in Business class. Business class seats offer a 54 inch seat pitch and economy, a 32 inch seat pitch.
Air Namibia’s improved frequency on its regional network, new routes and aircraft, allow for new tours and improved access to Southern Africa, in keeping with its stated mandate to provide reliable access and connections to the vast reaches of Southern Africa.
