Cabo Verde Approves Sovereign Guarantee for LACV ATR 72-600 Lease

The government of Cabo Verde has approved a sovereign guarantee supporting Linhas Aéreas de Cabo Verde’s operating lease of an ATR 72-600 from AVAP Leasing (Atlantic), as the state-owned airline expands its inter-island fleet.

The guarantee covers ATR 72-600 MSN 1829 and has a maximum value of $3.7 million. It will support LACV’s obligations to AVAP under the aircraft operating lease agreement.

The state guarantee has an eight-year term, while the underlying aircraft lease runs for 144 months, or 12 years.

The aircraft will be introduced as part of LACV’s fleet expansion program, providing additional capacity for domestic services and supporting improved frequency and reliability across Cabo Verde’s inter-island network.

The transaction represents the first phase of a planned two-aircraft operation. A second ATR 72-600, MSN 1830, is expected to be covered by a separate sovereign guarantee in early 2027, subject to government authorization.

The resolution authorizing the first guarantee was approved by Cabo Verde’s Council of Ministers on September 29 and took effect upon publication on September 30, 2026.
