Cape Verde Weighs Restructuring Options for TACV as Financial Pressures Mount

Cape Verde’s government says all options remain under consideration for the future of national carrier Cabo Verde Airlines (TACV), including restructuring, new investors, strategic partnerships and, as a last resort, liquidation.

Transport and Sea Minister João do Carmo Brito Soares described the airline’s financial position as “very critical,” stating that TACV requires approximately €3 million per month to cover operating costs. He stressed that liquidation is not the government’s preferred option but acknowledged that maintaining the airline in its current state is unsustainable.

The government said any decision will prioritize the country’s economic interests while seeking to protect jobs and preserve essential air connectivity across the archipelago and its international network.
