La Caisse and SMBC Aviation Capital Expand Aircraft Leasing Platform to $3 Billion

La Caisse and SMBC Aviation Capital are doubling the investment capacity of their Maple Aircraft Company Holdings joint venture to $3 billion after deploying the platform’s original $1.5 billion commitment ahead of schedule.

Established in 2024, Maple Aircraft Company Holdings, or MACH, provides financing for new-technology aircraft leased to airlines. The platform has assembled a portfolio of 21 aircraft placed with 13 carriers across 10 markets during its first two years.

The partners have also extended MACH’s investment period through December 2029, giving the platform additional capacity to acquire and finance modern, fuel-efficient aircraft as airlines seek alternatives to traditional sources of aircraft financing.

SMBC Aviation Capital will continue to originate transactions for MACH and service the portfolio, combining its aviation leasing and asset-management capabilities with institutional capital provided through the partnership with La Caisse.

The expansion gives the companies another $1.5 billion to deploy through the platform and increases their exposure to an aircraft leasing market supported by airline fleet renewal requirements and continued demand for newer aircraft.
