Rolls-Royce Secures Order for 70 Trent 7000 Engines from Avolon

Rolls-Royce has secured an order from aircraft lessor Avolon for 70 Trent 7000 engines to power 35 Airbus A330neo widebody aircraft.

The engine agreement follows Avolon’s October 2026 announcement of firm orders for 250 aircraft, including 35 A330neos, 75 A320neo Family aircraft and 140 Boeing 737 MAX jets.

The Trent 7000 is the exclusive powerplant for the A330neo, with the latest order supporting Avolon’s expansion of its widebody aircraft portfolio and long-term leasing commitments.

Rolls-Royce said the Trent 7000 has accumulated more than five million flight hours since entering service. The engine incorporates technology developed for the Trent XWB and is designed to deliver improved fuel efficiency compared with previous-generation widebody engines.

According to Rolls-Royce, the A330neo and Trent 7000 combination provides approximately 14% lower fuel consumption per seat than the previous generation.

The engine is currently certified to operate with sustainable aviation fuel blends of up to 50%, with compatibility for 100% SAF demonstrated through testing.

Financial terms and engine delivery schedules were not disclosed.
