Philippine Airlines Signs MoU for Nine Additional Airbus A350-1000s

Philippine Airlines has signed a memorandum of understanding with Airbus for nine additional A350-1000 aircraft, a deal that would double its total orders for the type to 18 aircraft once finalized.

Announced at the Farnborough International Airshow, the agreement builds on the airline’s existing A350-1000 fleet, with the first two aircraft delivered earlier this year. Philippine Airlines plans to use the aircraft as the flagship of its long-haul fleet, primarily expanding non-stop services from Manila to destinations across North America, including cities on the U.S. East Coast and Canada.

The airline’s A350-1000s will be configured with 382 seats in a three-class layout, featuring 42 Business Class suites with privacy doors, 24 Premium Economy seats and 316 Economy Class seats. The aircraft will also offer the latest in-flight entertainment and connectivity systems.

Powered by Rolls-Royce engines, the A350-1000 delivers a 25% improvement in fuel efficiency, operating costs and carbon emissions compared with previous-generation widebody aircraft. At the end of June 2026, the A350 family had accumulated 1,595 firm orders from 68 customers worldwide.
